Family Relationships
. ~ Maze ~ .
When she was very little, Amita made it a goal to try and make life easier for Maze in any way she could. Anytime Maze would disappear for a while, Amita would make sure to leave something for her when she came back. She also would comfort Maze anytime she could with even just a brief touch or a small smile. Maze appreciated each act of kindness from her youngest, and it always helped her keep in touch with her humanity.
Now, as an adult, Amita doesn't much see her mothers and it's rare when they talk. Despite this, whenever they do get together, Amita and Maze always share a sweet smile and a tight hug.
. ~ Eclipse ~ .
In her childhood, Eclipse was the one that Amita would come to when she was hurt or needed help with something. Her mother came to understand her silence and cater to it, often interpreting Amita’s intentions without a word needing to be spoken. That being said, Amita would often grace Eclipse with a quiet “thank you” and a kiss on the cheek before softly padding away.
Amita’s teenage years began to show just how well her mother could read her. Eclipse could always tell if something was bothering Amita, and would show kind concern and let her know that she would always had a confidant in her mother. Sometimes, Amita would indeed take that offer and they would converse quietly late into the night.
Though they don't speak often anymore, there will forever be a special understanding between them and they will always have fond memories and a soft spot for one another in their hearts.
. ~ Athena ~ .
Athena made a very big impression on a very small Amita, and that influence has helped to shape who she became. Always willing to voice her opinion and do her own thing, Athena was the much cooler older sister who still seemed to have all the time in the world for Amita if she needed despite the fact that the older girl had a plethora of friends at her beck and call. As Amita didn't exactly carry much conversation, Athena filled in the silence with her wild stories and crazy adventures. Often after a long night out, she would have something special for each of the triplets, a secret present. Seeing how happy it made her and all of her sisters when Athena gave them gifts, Amita saw a way to cheer up others if they were in need. She looked up to Athena and aspired to make others smile the way her older sister did.
As she grew up, Amita began to see the real-life affects of Athena's reckless lifestyle. She often helped Aurora to care for Athena if she'd had a rough night out or drank too much. Though she still loved her sister, Amita began to lose sight of that aura of perfection that used to always surround Athena. She now saw her older sister as just another person, but a good-hearted one at that. Amita still loved the way Athena seemed to be able to draw a smile from everyone in the room, and she still hoped to instill that same kind of happiness in her family and those closest to her.
. ~ Amara ~ .
Even from a young age, Amita had a sense that Amara was not like the rest of them. Though she didn't act violent or unstable, or even very different from any of the other members of the family, she carried herself in such a way that made Amita uneasy. Though she couldn't quite put her finger on it for many years, Amita eventually figured it out. It almost seemed as though Amara always taller than the other two triplets even though they were the same height. Noticing how this made her feel, Amita subconsciously made the decision to respond by making her own body language do the exact opposite. She made herself smaller and appear to be harmless rather than tall and mighty like her sister.
When she was a teen, Amita simply avoided Amara whenever it was convenient. However, if she noticed her sister was particularly exhausted or more crabby than normal, she would still leave small gifts for her as she would anyone she cares about. Even though Amara made her uncomfortable sometimes, it didn't mean Amita didn't love her anyway. The two were never particularly close, and still aren't. They only see each other at family gatherings, and don't interact much even then.
. ~ Aurora ~ .
Amita was always the closest with Aurora, even when they were tiny. Aurora mothered her the most, constantly making sure she was okay and that nothing would ever happen to her. As a child, Aurora heard Amita's voice more than anyone as the youngest would sometimes whisper little ideas or comments into her sister's ear. If Amita wasn't alone, which was rare, it was a good bet that she was with Aurora. Amita's first paper crane was given to Aurora, and it sits beside her bed to this day.
The two stayed close even into their teenage years, and other than Eclipse, Aurora was the only person that Amita would confide even the least bit in. If she needed advice or just a listening ear, she could always count on Aurora to patiently wait until she found the right words to say. And when often Amita couldn't find the words and just needed a hug, her sister always had the most welcoming embrace. For the most part, they shared calming companionable silences and silly grins more than chit chat, but that's what made their friendship even closer. They didn't need the words to know how the other felt, they just knew.
Aurora has received, by far, the most gifts from Amita of anyone, and this attributes to their closeness. Origami animals, drawings, and small handmade trinkets covered the walls in her bedroom. It was Amita's job to lift her sister's spirits if they got down just as much as it was Aurora's job to understandingly wait while Amita searched for sentences.
In adulthood, Amita and Aurora still see each other often and occasionally confide in one another. Although Aurora now has other close friends, she is Amita's closest friend and often the only person she talks to all week. Companionable silences are still one of their favorite shared pastimes, and I doubt that will ever change. After a day spent together, they both feel as if a weight has been lifted from their shoulders. As sisters and best friends, they share one another's burdens and make the load a little lighter.
